The Kurhaus Bergün, now a Swiss Historic Hotel, was established in 1906, at the time of the opening of the Albula railway line from Chur to St. Moritz. The Kurhaus is known for its creative cuisine, the spectacular Jugendstil dining hall and the well preserved original public rooms, such as the ladies’ saloon, the library, the bar and the former hotel kitchen.

Bergün/Bravuogn:
Bergün, 1350m above sea level, is an Alpine village at the Albula Pass connecting the German- and Latin-speaking parts of Switzerland. It is the last stop before the train and road wind up to the Albula tunnel and pass, respectively. The railway line is a UNECO world heritage item, and the trip to Bergün is a true experience and a must-do for railway fanatics.

The Excursion:
Our excursion will end with a refreshing drink at the mountain restaurant La Diala (close to 2000 m above sea level), which is served by a gondola from Bergün, or which can be reached by a three-hour easy but very scenic hike.

Getting to Bergün/Bravuogn:
From Zürich and Basel you take the train to Chur and change to Rhaetian Railway train headed for St. Moritz. The travel time is about 3 hours from Zürich and 4 hours from Basel.

From Geneva and Lausanne, you have the option to travel via Zurich (about 5 hours), or, at least for one way, to take the train via Brig-Furka-Oberalp-Disentis. This is a very scenic journey, and part of the Glacier Express train route connecting St. Moritz and Zermatt. The trip is two hours longer, but will be a very rewarding experience.
